Thailand
Pet Microchip:
- All pets entering or leaving Thailand must be microchipped with an ISO 11784/11785 compliant microchip.
Country Categories:
- Thailand categorizes countries into two categories (Rabies-free and Rabies-controlled) based on their rabies status.
Vaccinations:
- Dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies and other common diseases.
- The vaccination should be administered at least 21 days before entry into Thailand.
Rabies Titer Test:
- Thailand does not require a rabies titer test for pets entering the country.
Health Certificate:
- A valid health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian is required.
- The certificate should be issued within 10 days of travel and include details of vaccinations and microchip.
Import Licenses:
- Import licenses are required for the importation of pets into Thailand.
- The license can be obtained from the Department of Livestock Development (DLD) prior to travel.
Ticks & Tapeworm Treatment:
- Dogs and cats must be treated for ticks and tapeworms within 21 days before entry into Thailand.
- A veterinary endorsement on the health certificate is required as proof of treatment.
Quarantine:
- Thailand does not require quarantine for pets from most countries.
- However, pets from some countries may be subject to quarantine based on specific circumstances or requirements.
Entering Thailand:
- Pets must enter Thailand through designated ports of entry such as airports or seaports.
- Entry through other ports may require prior arrangements and approval from the DLD.
Transiting Thailand by Air:
- Pets transiting through Thailand by air are subject to the same import regulations as mentioned above.
- The transit period should be as short as possible, and the pets must remain within the designated transit area.
Puppies and Kittens:
- Puppies and kittens must be at least 4 months old before they can enter Thailand.
- They should be vaccinated against rabies and other diseases based on the age-appropriate vaccination schedule.
Banned Breeds:
- Thailand does not have specific bans on dog breeds; however, certain breeds may be subject to additional regulations or restrictions.
- Other breeds may also be subject to restrictions and additional requirements.
Exporting Pets from Thailand:
- To export pets from Thailand, you need to comply with the import regulations of the destination country.
- Obtain the necessary health certificates, vaccinations, and other documents required by the destination country.
Other Animals:
- Different regulations may apply to the importation and exportation of non-dog/cat pets.
- Contact the Department of Livestock Development (DLD) or relevant authorities for specific guidelines regarding the import or export of other animals.
Cities:
- The regulations mentioned above apply to all pets entering or leaving Thailand regardless of the city of origin/destination.
